“My husband is abusive but I can’t leave”
Updated | By Bongani Urban
A listener shared her story with Bongani about how
leaving her abusive husband is not an option for her.

I got an incredibly sad email from a listener who explained that leaving her abusive husband is not an option because she is unemployed and he supports her and their children financially.
Abuse of any kind should never be tolerated, and I am not about to get involved in an argument about how this woman should stay with her husband and forgive him so that she can try and make it work for the kids or that she should stay because she has no money.

No – she needs to pack her bags right now, grab the kids, and leave. Call the police, call the church, call her family, call someone and get this man away from her.
My blood boils with these kinds of stories. I opened up the lines and tried to figure out along with other listeners what this woman needs to do.
