Mask Off: What are you hiding?
Some of us wear a mask every day... we have secrets that not even our closest family and friends know about. Thandolwethu asked the listeners of KZN to share their secrets through completing the following sentence: The one thing nobody knows about me is... ?
In an effort to show trust, Thandolwethu shared a very personal and private secret that is still visible physically. She admitted that she was at one stage of her life a cutter, cutting her own wrists.
I felt so numb, I just wanted to feel something. I would creep into the bath and take out a first aid kit and take out the razors and just cut myself.
A confession that her family and friends did not know until she shared it on air. Thandolwethu emotionally shared how she would fill up the bathtub with water and lie in the bath and just cut herself.

This sparked an outpour of love, support, and confessions from KZN listeners. Some of the secrets shared had a devastating similarity. That of abuse - sexual abuse.
