"I thought he was throwing a punch at me but it was acid. I started burning instantly and I started screaming. My child was behind me, she also got burnt" - Ines Antonio.
On Monday, acid burn victim and survivor Ines Antonio shared her story on East Coast Urban with Thandolwethu.
Ines and her ex-boyfriend Jan Pieterse met when she was very young. She fell pregnant just two months into the relationship. When Antonio revealed to Pieterse that she was pregnant, he demanded that she abort their unborn baby.
She refused and tried to end the relationship. Her boyfriend became violent and began harassing her and their child, even threatening to kill her.
However, there's one day in her life that she will never forget for as long as she lives. She and her boyfriend were arguing as normal when all of a sudden he grabbed acid and threw it in her face - leaving her scarred and with third degree burns.
