The ultimate battle between a bird and two snakes
Updated | By East Coast Drive
Breathtaking footage has emerged showing a nail-biting standoff between one brave bird and two snakes.
Nature is really such a beautiful thing. You can expect to witness majestic and also pretty unusual sightings. You just need to be patient and keep your eyes fixed on the surroundings.
Seeing a predator take on its prey is a fairly normal sighting to witness in the wilderness. However, witnessing a bird take on two snakes is pretty extraordinary and isn’t something you witness all the time.
Amazing footage captured by Frank De Souza on 14 November in Marloth Park shows one mighty brave bird taking on not one, but two snakes. Frank and three of his friends were in the park looking for birds. They then spotted a beautiful Grey Headed Bushshrike in a desperate flapping attempt.

When they approached the bird, they noticed the snake who slyly pretended to be dead. The bird was having none of it and continued to flap away and fight the snake. When they noticed that another snake appeared, they grabbed their cameras and began to shoot this amazing footage.

According to De Souza: “The snake who originally acted dead woke up and shot off like a rocket leaving the bird to attack the second snake until it also played dead”. In a brave attempt, the bird pulled the snake around.
De Souza was lucky to have captured such a breathtaking sighting on video. This is definitely one birdy that you don’t want to mess with.
