Jewellery store’s 'offensive' billboard goes viral
Updated | By East Coast Drive
Was this just a clever play on words or is it actually offensive? You decide...
When deciding to advertise your company on a billboard, the messaging needs to be short, clear, and to the point.
However, a family-owned jewellery store has come under fire for their billboard in North Carolina, USA. The ad, which reads ‘Sometimes it’s ok to throw rocks at girls’, has gone viral after the play on words seemed to promote violence. However, ‘rocks’ was supposed to refer to the precious stones the store sells.

Many have taken to Twitter to air their views and express their outrage about the poor taste in messaging.
@SpicerGreene Throw rocks at girls. Diamonds = rocks. Who at your org approved this? Maybe hire someone else?

Just in case anyone is confused: it's NEVER ok to throw rocks at girls. Seriously, who approved this? #facepalm https://t.co/Dd7bGPuhIC
