The day Phat Joe cake-faced Rory
Rory tells us about the day he took one for the team.
If I said I wasn't expecting our first show with Phat Joe to be absolutely epic, I'd be lying.
My brief as Executive Producer was to make the first show count and to ensure peope listen on the Tuesday.
So, we set out to make a mess of everything. Like, everything.
Yes, you read that correctly.
I know this makes absolutely no sense, but our thinking was that if we completely obliterated the show on the first day, you would tune in the following day to hear how we could possibly fix it OR how it could possibly get any worse.
So, the plan was for Phat Joe to ruin everything, for you to hate on him, for us to hate on him, for management to hate on him, and for him to eventually storm out.
Because this is pretty much the Phat Joe you've come to know, isn't it?
Oh, and that part with the cake at the end?
That was decided at the last minute, when Phat Joe said: "Who wants to have a cake smashed in their face when I storm out?"
Everyone looked at me. I had to do it. I did it.
And yes, the cake was absolutely delicious. I think there is still some icing sugar in my ear.
