#TrendReport: Apple announces animated emojis for iPhone X

The launch of a new iPhone always gets nerds around the world excited and this week’s was no exception. The feature that’s possibly most intriguing, however, is more toy than tech.
The iPhone X is Apple’s newly-announced flagship smartphone, and it comes with a whole host of design updates.

One that’s most interesting for the public and tech-nerds alike is the introduction of animoji - animated, face-tracking emojis that allow you to customise a selection of the most popular emojis with your own facial expression.
As Chris Reid, Trend Researcher at the International Trend Institute, explained in his recent conversation with Jane, this is about more than just another way to send fun pictograms, it’s a whole shift in communication, and it could have wider ramifications.
