Missy Elliott finally explains her confusing lyrics
Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
When you realise what Missy Elliott was actually saying, your mind will be blown!
I have loved Missy from day one. I love her attitude, style, and, of course, her music. I was lucky enough to see her live in concert a few years back. Front row I raged, she arrived on stage in a blinged up tracksuit complete with rainbow splashes and sparkles.

She had hurt her foot but that didn't stop her. She drove onto the stage on a little motorised scooter and used crutches to support herself. Only Missy can make an injury look that cool!
The evening highlight was scooping one of her signed sneakers. Okay, let me make this clear - I had nothing to do with the retrieval but more on the delegating side as I sent a friend Jeff to get it, and he came back holding the cream and gold embossed sneaker above his head. What a night!

For years I have wondered and racked my brain to figure out exactly what she was saying in her ‘Work It' track - and now it all makes sense! Missy took to her Twitter to give a shoutout to those who figured it out. It was literally the lyrics flipped and reversed! Can you believe it's taken 15 years to figure that out?! I used to just mumble along that line and I’m sure you did too!

Dear @BuzzFeed realizing @MissyElliott is a genius is not a new thing. #WorkIt and it's reverse lyrics are not a recent discovery. pic.twitter.com/oCgL8zjaWX
