Mandoza’s family says he is fighting for his life
'Nkalakatha' star Mduduzi Tshabalala, better known as Mandoza, made headlines after news broke that he is being treated for a brain tumor.
The Tshabalala family released a statement stating that the Kwaito star is being treated for his battle with cancer at his home in Soweto.
Mandoza's health related issues came into the spotlight in 2015 after he was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery.
I was so sad to read this. I remember the first time I met Mandoza back in 2001, it was backstage at a concert he was performing at. He rolled in, in true Mandoza fashion, entourage and all, dressed in white, and an air of rock 'n roll radness.
Although an icon, he always gave freely of his time and the last time we were together we did a version of 'Nkalakatha' that saw me playing percussion, comprising of a handful of coins out my wallet and using the gold gangsta chain I was wearing as added clink.
