Horrific Joburg hit-and-run incident caught on camera

I was appalled when I came across this hit-and-run incident which recently went viral. According to TimesLive, the incident took place in the Johannesburg CBD and videos of it quickly made the rounds on social media. It was also uploaded to the Intelligence Bureau SA Facebook page.

The video shows a man trying to cross the road when a white car suddenly swerves, knocks him over, then speeds off without even stopping to ask him if he was okay.

Luckily, the 41-year-old driver was arrested for his actions and will be charged with attempted murder. He will appear in court on the 26th of September. The pedestrian is being treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.
I can only assume that a hit-and-run incident is fueled by fear and adrenaline? That being said, there really is no excuse to mow someone over and not stop and make sure they are okay.

I cannot begin to fathom how one sleeps at night knowing what they did and not knowing the state of the other person they hit? There's no excuse for what this driver did and I hope that justice will take its course for his actions.
