Dealing with friends who overstay their welcome
Everyone loves hanging out with friends now and then, but what happens when the welcome has worn out, and it's time for them to leave?
Oh man, there is nothing worse than friends who come to your home and get sticky boots. You know the type whose pants become fastened to the chair they are sitting on, and no matter how many times you yawn and comment on the time, the more comfortable they become.
Mr T and I love entertaining and we love it when our friends come home to visit. Thankfully for us, our friends understand. We have a running joke in our friendship circles that you have to be out by 21h00 - that's cut-off time. Being a mom of three is no joke, and a girl values her some much-needed shut-eye while the kids are asleep.
A colleague of mine told me that he had a friend that always promises to pop in for a quick 'cuppa' but ends up staying for hours on end - even after being told that they have other things to attend to. Yikes, talk about awkward!

I think the best way is to be firm from the outset and set parameters. In this day and age, we find that time is so precious, so why not make every second count? While you want to enjoy the company of friends, a level of understanding must be clear.
