In the case of divorce, who gets the kids?

When you have children, you never think about who gets to 'keep' the children if the union unravels, but this is becoming a growing question we need to ask ourselves.

While filling out some paperwork the other day, I got to a question that I honestly found very hard to answer and ended up leaving it blank. The question asked that if Mr. T and I were to get divorced, who would get the children?

A harsh one, right?!
I mean, sure, I am their mother and I was their first home and, yes, they must always be near me, but what about Mr. T? Surely a man who cares and provides for them like he does would also be a wonderful place for them to live, love, and flourish.

As we know in the course of law, unless there is a serious issue with the birth mother, she will always get her kids, but it seems a bit harsh that a mass approach is used here as both parents have their merits.
My maternal lioness will always be at the core of my being when it comes to my 'cubs', but also depriving a father who is dedicated does seem unfair. Sho, it really is a tough one!
