Bongani Mtolo’s take on #OpenUpTheIndustry
Updated | By Bongani Mtolo
People are complaining that in South Africa there’s a lot of rich talent in the entertainment industry but the same people are given jobs.
This Twitter debate started after Boity Thulo landed a new job as a co-host of Ridiculusness Africa on MTV.
You find someone doing TV presenting, modelling, radio presenting, acting etc – at the same time.
The big question is, are people who do many jobs really hogging the limelight?
I have really thought about it and I feel most people get into the industry because they think it is an easy thing to do – where you don’t even need to study.
People study for various jobs, the same thing applies in entertainment.
It’s not as easy as everyone makes it out to be. You cannot just be famous and make a lot of money overnight!
The harder you work the money you make.
Most importantly, you are not owed anything but people who get ‘too much work’. They can not say no to offers and opportunities.
To everyone who was running their mouth about Boity being greedy, my message is get inspired and work hard to be at the level she is at.
