Thabo Ramokoena, the founder of the Annual South African Gqom Awards speak to Bongani and Mags about the upcoming event.

The first annual South African Gqom Awards has come at an exciting time as the culture of music is forever changing.
Gqom is the newly celebrated culture in the entertainment industry, which isn't only music, but also dance and fashion which celebrates the underdogs.
"We are looking at talent in all sphere's throughout Gqom for submissions; whether you're involved in fashion, or music, we have 25 categories to help nurture talent in the Gqom space," says Ramokoena.

Thabo added that Gqom has been welcomed throughout the world.
"The energy behind the music is very contagious. It has spilled out into other categories and we welcome this as much as the rest of the world has embraced Gqom," he added
The event will be held at the Durban ICC Arena on 20 April 2019.
