Rory Petzer's emotionally sober look at #SONA2018
Updated | By Rory Petzer
'Now that we’ve had the weekend to calm down, I feel it pertinent to point out the glaringly obvious,' says Rory Petzer.
After nine years of abuse, South Africa is currently in 'Rescue Dog' status.
That is, whenever you approach a kennel at the SPCA looking even half decent, the (rescue) dog in that kennel loses his mind and just wants to be in your arms.
You haven't said anything to this dog.
This dog does not know you.
This dog does not know your intentions.
He loves you wholeheartedly as you walk towards him.
This dog's face lights up and says, 'Please take me! I'm yours forever!'
You just have to stand there and look at the dog, and he thinks you are the greatest thing that ever lived.
If he had friends, he would tell them he met a hero.
If he had social media, the world would know within seconds.
This dog loves you, not because he necessarily knows anything about you, but simply because you are not the person with whom he lived before.
Early indications are good, but I sincerely hope we've been rescued from our cage at the SPCA, and that our new owner is kind to us.
