Police snap selfie in front of burning house
Updated | By Rory Petzer
Do you think these officers should feel the heat after this selfie?
We’re always quick to judge and make assumptions based simply on an image and what it apparently portrays, and how we interpret it.
For instance, often a photo of municipal workers lying under a tree will go viral, with everyone sharing the image, spewing vitriol, calling them lazy, and accusing them of wasting tax-payers’ money.
What we do not take into consideration is that these workers might very well have been on their lunch break. What we also often fail to recognise is that we are sharing these images on social media while we are supposed to be working!
Disturbing footage of two police officers from Long Island has been doing the rounds after they were seen at a burning home in the Uniondale suburb of New York taking a selfie.

Once again we cannot deduce much simply by looking at the footage. For all we know, they knew there was nobody in the house to rescue and their only task then would have been to ensure nobody enters the house while waiting for firefighters to arrive.

If this is not the case, however, and they were simply being irresponsible, then I sincerely hope they both come under… fire!
Take a look at the footage below.
