After numerous bids were made, these pigeon farmers finally won the bid for the world famous Golden Prince pigeon - which many have been after.
Were you aware that people actually go out and put bids on pigeons? Well pigeon racing is a pretty big thing. Modern pigeon racing originated in Belgium around the mid 19-century.
Gauteng pigeon farmers, Mark Kitchenbrand and Samuel Mbiza, recently purchased a world-famous racing pigeon called the ‘Golden Prince’ for a whopping R5-million. Mark and Samuel travelled to Belgium for the Gino Clicque pigeon auction, held by conservation group PIPA, and outbid buyers from countries such as China, Poland, France and even India.
According to Fin24, the Kitchenbrand family are the oldest racing pigeon family in South Africa.
They have won numerous races and are actively involved in the South African Million Dollar Pigeon Race.
