‘Mlungu’ student wows crowd with ‘kasi style’ dance moves

A University of Pretoria student has just proved that the “white boys can’t dance” stereotype doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

A video has gone viral showing a Tuks student busting a move during a dance-off recently.

Deodat Kritzinger can be seen dancing kasi style, leaving the crowd screaming for more. The Tuks Sports video was shared by Facebook user Ike Bam.

He told Good Guy Things that he is blown away by people’s reaction to the video, which has been viewed more than 77,000 times.

“I’ve seen some of the responses on the video and it’s incredible. It’s crazy how a video of a guy dancing and getting embraced by his fellow students can reignite people’s love for our awesome country!”

Most viewers said the video gave them hope that South Africans of all colours can have a good time together, while others were just impressed with the “mlungu’s dance moves”.

“Aaah this umlungu can do the jigga man - so love how music and dance just breaks down all kinds of barriers :) Happy moments we need more of these - thanks for sharing,” one Facebook user commented.

Another added: “We need more of this in south africa to break down racial stereotypes and racism. Well done to him and all the respect he earned from his peers. Wish our political leaders could do some things.”

Deodat is not the only “mlungu” showing off his killer dance moves.  A video of a white man – dressed in a suit and all – busting a move kasi style was posted on Facebook last week. It already has more than 277,000 views!
