The Big Favour: A best friend steps in
You will not believe what this family has been through.
Wendy wrote to the Big Favour asking if we could help her best friend and family.
The Van der Merwe family is: mom Marlise, dad Johan, son Charl and daughter Donay, as well as Charl’s girlfriend Kayleigh, who, Wendy says has been by the family's side throughout everything.
At the age of 14, Charl fell extremely ill and was eventually diagnosed with an auto immune disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis.
Not long after that, Donay at the age of 12 also fell very ill and was completely immobile for a period of time.
Donay, too, was eventually diagnosed with an auto immune disease called Juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Wendy asked if there was any way we could arrange a holiday or some sort of break for this family, who so very dearly deserves and needs it.
Well, thanks to the Spa on Fairway, and Richard and Jenny Osborne from Happy Wanderers Resort and White Mountain Lodge, the Van der Merwe family will get so much more than just a little break.
