The 01:30 advert features a young boy talking to his mother about his late father. The boy is looking to learn more about his dad. All seems pretty normal until it ends with him and his mom at a McDonald's ordering a Fillet-O-Fish, which the mom points out was something that his dad enjoyed when he was around.
Many have taken to social media to air their concerns. Some have said that it exploits the bereavement process that a child goes through when they lose a parent, while others are simply okay with it.
I am sickened and disgusted by this advert. Lost my dad at 9. Memories? Yes .Burger? No! Shameful ad #McDonalds

Mcdonalds latest advert is atrocious, genuinely wondering if big brands are using 2017 as the true test re no publicity is bad publicity.

Check out the advert below:
According to the Coventry Telegraph, a McDonald's spokesperson has addressed the situation, saying: "We wanted to highlight the role McDonald's has played in our customers' everyday lives - both in good and difficult times. We apologise for any upset this advert has caused. This was by no means an intention of ours."

When McDonald's signed off on this advert, surely they knew what they were airing in the sake of capturing an audience and hopefully winning them over?
Ultimately, they got what they wanted and that was exposure. Whether it was good or bad exposure, everyone is talking about it. From here on after watching the advert, it's a personal decision whether you continue to eat their product or not.
