Former Springbok Butch James joins East Coast Drive

This year, the Currie Cup competition celebrates it’s 125
year birthday – an amazing feat for the country’s oldest and most
prestigious domestic rugby tournament.
A number of South Africa’s most famous rugby players careers have been made in the Currie Cup – and that also goes for Sharks and Springbok legend Butch James.
He is one of the most decorated South African rugby players – having won the World Cup back in 2007 as well as the Currie Cup in 2011.

The former Springbok chatted to East Coast Drive about his love affair with rugby which started when he watched the Sharks lift the Currie Cup trophy as a young boy back in 1991.
He also revealed what he drank out of the trophy after the Lions beat the Sharks in the 2011 final.
