The financial ramifications of SA hosting Rugby World Cup 2023

SA rugby delivered their bid on Tuesday to host the 2023 World Cup. G-Dog managed to catch up with a partner from Grant Thornton who was involved in the process.
After many long hours of putting it all together, the bid to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup has finally been submitted by South Africa.
CEO of SA Rugby, Jurie Roux, and and His Excellency Mr Ahlangene Cyprian Sigcau, South African Ambassador to Ireland, made their way to the World Rugby Headquarters in Ireland on Tuesday to submit the bid.

The 827-page document, which consists of important information needed to help them win the bid, weighed a whopping 8.2kg!
Although fans everywhere are hoping for the best to win the bid, there are many economic and financial ramifications of hosting such an event.
I managed to catch up with Mark Willot, a partner from financial services giant Grant Thornton who was directly involved in the process, to find out more about how a winning a bid like this will affect the country financially. Listen below to the interview:
