Bongani rubs shoulders with celebs at the 2018 Sun Met
Updated | By East Coast Drive
Fashionistas from all over South Africa gathered in Cape Town this past Saturday to celebrate 'Africa's Richest Race Day'. East Coast Drive's Bongani got a VIP pass to the event and decided to share his experience with us East Coasters.
What a weekend!
I flew out on Friday and made my way to Cape Town for the 134th edition of the Sun Met.
The event saw South Africa’s A-list celebrities flock to Kenilworth Race Course for 'Africa's Richest Race Day', which was held on Saturday.

Cape Town’s weather did not disappoint. It was warm, the sun was out, and there was a gentle breeze blowing - just the right amount to ensure we were kept cool.
Apart from the fashion and great food, I got a chance to meet some of South Africa’s biggest names. Some of the people I met included Somizi, Minnie Dlamini, Mbali Nkosi, and even Miss Universe.
The highlight of the weekend, though, was meeting legendary Olympic athlete Usain Bolt. What a down-to-earth man. He spent time chatting, taking pictures, and dancing with those around him. I even got invited to hit a nightclub with him.
It was one of those days that will be etched in my mind forever.

It wasn't only about dressing to the nines. I also had some fun with a 360-degree camera...
And here's what the morning after looked like. You could say that it was a night for the history books...
