A Greek woman asked ChatGPT to read her husband’s coffee cup, and what it revealed ended their marriage.
In the endless list of things you probably shouldn’t ask ChatGPT, reading your husband’s coffee cup is now firmly at the top.
A Greek woman has reportedly blown up her 12-year marriage after using AI to read the leftover coffee grounds in her husband’s cup.
What happened next belongs in a soap opera.
For those who are confused, Greek coffee cup reading (or tasseography) is an ancient tradition where you finish your coffee, flip the cup, and someone “reads” the patterns in the sludge to predict your future.
It’s basically fortune cookies for the emotionally unstable.
Anyway, in a very 2025 twist, this woman thought it’d be a good idea to skip the fortune-teller and let ChatGPT give it a shot.
She snapped a pic of the cup and sent it off to the AI gods, and boy, did they deliver.
The
chatbot apparently revealed a mysterious younger woman with the initial
“E” lurking in the husband’s life, claiming she was plotting to rip
their family apart.
Most people would laugh, maybe even delete the app. Not this lady. She took it dead seriously.
Within hours, she was calling a lawyer, telling the kids they were getting a divorce, and giving her husband the boot.
All because an AI bot decided to play Miss Cleo with a cup of old coffee.
The bewildered husband told a Greek morning show: “She’s into these trendy things. I thought it was a joke. Next thing, I’m out of the house.”
This isn’t her first dance with destiny, though.
A few years ago, an astrologer told her something equally dramatic, and it took a full year to recover.
Some people buy crystals. She divorces.
Professional tasseography experts weighed in, saying proper readings involve not just the grounds but also the foam and saucer.
In other words, even if AI could read your cup, it did a half-job.
His lawyer has since confirmed that AI coffee readings don’t hold up in court.
However, in 2025, who even knows anymore.
