Seven years after being diagnosed with both trichotillomania, a condition where sufferers have a compulsive urge to pull out their hair, and trichophagia, where they eat it, a 23-year-old woman has been relieved from abdominal pains that almost killed her.

She had suffered for months before doctors discovered a mass in her stomach and ordered immediate surgery to remove what they thought would be a tumour. To their surprise, they found a giant ball of human hair that had built up over seven years of eating her tresses.

Sophie Cox said when she was stressed, she found comfort from plucking strands of hair and eating them during the day, according to South West News Service.
