KZN, we have a bottleneck ship-uation on our hands at the Durban Harbour. 

If you have had a peep or heard reports, the rail, port, and roads have reached crisis level, that need urgent interim measures to provide relief.

ECR NewsWatch shares: "Two weeks ago, the Umhlathuze Municipality in Richards Bay took government and Transnet to court over the alleged failure to maintain rail infrastructure, which has resulted in severe congestion of trucks transporting cargo, particularly coal, to the port."

East Coast Breakfast share that almost 71,000 containers are stuck on ships outside the Durban port, which is battling equipment breakdowns. That’s why there’s so many ships.

Several news outlets describe the current logistical issues as "chaos" stating that "it will take months to clear the Durban port backlog".

The knock-on effect sees exporters and importers taking to the air and roads to get their products in and out of the country as opposed to the ports.
