This new feature will be available to WhatsApp users on the latest Android version of the app.

This will be a game changer for people who sneakily take screenshots of messages on their WhatsApp.

When WhatsApp users try to screen record or take a screenshot, they will see a message saying this...

Can’t take screenshot due to security policy.

Third-party applications hoping to bypass the screenshot process for users will not be able to do so.

The Meta Platform that owns the messaging service has those covered as well.

Here's an example (below) of someone attempting to screenshot. It shows a pop-up message with third-party apps that will return to a black image.

According to WABetaInfo,  the sender of the message won't be notified when someone attempts to take a screenshot.

People can be confident that they will NOT be blocked.

However, the screenshot blocking feature is limited to only images and videos.

What this means is that users can still capture conversations with disappearing messages.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg first announced the screenshot blocking feature in August 2022.

“We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations,” says Zuckerberg on a Facebook post.
