Footage has been making the rounds on social media showing the miraculous rescue mission of a dolphin who was seen battling rough seas and trapped on the rocks on Umhlanga's main beach.

According to IOL, it was the swift action and response of Senior Lifesaving Club member Derek Morris who noticed the dolphin in distress and gathered members of his team to help save it.
Sharon Van Straaten shared the 25-second video of the rescue mission on her Facebook page this past Sunday, and captioned it: "A dolphin was rescued off the Umhlanga Beach this morning. Members of URSLC rallied in support as they gathered around the dolphin in Grannies Pool, holding it up and porpoising it’s tall to help it recover. Just beautiful to see our community so invested in our magnificent wildlife we have here along our coast."
It is reported that the heroes were in the water for about three hours with the dolphin. A local charter was then called out to help move the dolphin, who swiftly swam away after being released out to sea.
These locals are being celebrated everywhere, and we at East Coast Radio salute them all for their efforts!
