WATCH: The Cane Cutter movie finally has a leading lady
Dr. Eubelus Timothy, who is set to shoot a new movie in Durban about the city's residents, has finally found a lead actor.
Way back in February, Dr Eubulus Timothy, who is a dental surgeon as well as an award-winning filmmaker, had reached out to Darren Maule and Sky Tshabalala to help him find a female lead.
This was for his new movie 'The Cane Cutter'.

After weeks of auditions and eliminations, it came down to the final three candidates - Shika Maharaj, Dr. Kajal Lutchminarian and Sam Singh.
On 11 April, Dr. Timothy came back to Breakfast with Darren Maule show to finally announce his decision.
He first spoke to the breakfast team about the journey that he and his team gone through in searching for someone to play the role of Amisha.
He then made the big announcement of who would take on the role of Priya in 'The Cane Cutter'. Have look at at the Facebook live stream of the announcement.
Shika Maharaj was picked to play the role of Priya in the movie.

Dr. Timothy said the has now developed in such a way that the producers have allowed more people to be involved for different roles.
So the big moment came to announce who would be the leading lady of the movie. It was none other than Dr. Kajal Lutchminarian who will be playing as the lead role Amisha.
