Nature gets a whole new revamp to help educate the masses...
The month of June marks National Environment Month in South Africa.
This is met with several other celebrations, marking the special occasion - World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June and World Oceans Day on 8 June.

The month is also about recognising how the community can become agents for change with their actions. Jane Troughton, a Durban resident, uses technology to promote the environment.
This is done through the Durban North Conservancy together with an environmental non-profit organisation, Enviro Fixers Durban North. Troughton has recently installed 10 QR code tags on indigenous trees in the Bridgevale Park Nature Reserve.
Troughton and the other residents who installed the QR codes within Bridgevale aim to do more trees soon. There is a feeling amongst the locals that this will make the reserve much more engaging for visitors.

The information unlocked through the QR codes will help expand visitors' knowledge on indigenous species and why they are so important to the environment.
