Warning: Expect flooding in KwaZulu-Natal this weekend

KZN citizens, please be prepared, as a flood warning has been announced.

There has been a flood warning issued for Durban and KZN.

According to the eThekwini Municipality, there is a cold front with destructive rain that has a high chance of bringing about localised flooding.

Msawakhe Mayisela, who is the Municipal spokesperson, said Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has instructed disaster management personnel to be on standby.

There is an urgent call for residents living in low lying areas to evacuate to safer areas. 

The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 and Level 4 disruptive rain warning for KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

The flood warning has the potential to impact these areas: eThekwini, Mkhambathini, Ray Nkonyeni Umdoni, and Umzumbe. 

The flooding of roads, bridges, low lying areas, and informal settlements is being predicted.
