Unfortunately, one huge tip took a sad turn after Linsey Huff, a divorced mother of two, was let go.
Working a shift at the Mason Jar Cafe in Michigan, USA, Linsey had a customer with a unique story.
The customer was in town as a friend had sadly passed away. On a $32.43 bill, the customer topped a whooping $10,000 (R192,500).
Linsey did the honourable thing and split the huge payoff with her fellow co-workers, but shortly after that, she was cut.
It is alleged that after the tip was shared between waiters, other staff members were disgruntled that they didn’t get a share.

Jennifer McManus, Linsey's attorney, shared that the owners were planning on suing her if she did not remove her Facebook post detailing the entire experience.
"They said that they will sue her for her full estate. She kind of chuckled [at that] and said, ‘Well, good luck – I’m a waitress. There’s not an estate here.’ Through her own generosity, sharing this tip – honoring the requests of the person who had initially been so generous – she ended up losing her job," remarks Jennifer.
