Updated | By East Coast Radio
A moment that hits close to home for many rugby lovers...
'South African men don't cry... except when watching Chasing the Sun.'
Leading up the eagerly anticipated documentary that shared the story behind the road to winning the World Cup in 2023, comedic skits have been promoted online. The five-part documentary series, 'Chasing the Sun 2', premiered on 24 March 2024 on M-Net and SuperSport Grandstand. Many proud South Africans had their eyes glued to the screen last night.

"This story is bigger than rugby. It is a reflection of what it means to be South African. It's a story of hope, unity, and resilience that connects deeply with our nation's spirit," shares Marc Jury, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa.
SA comedian, Glen Biderman-Pam, featured a hilarious take on the docu-series. Watch it here:
According to the American Psychological Association, women cry emotional tears 30-64 times, annually, while men – globally – cry an average five-17 times per annum. South African men, however, only cry when we watch Chasing the Sun. We’re all going through the most right now. We need to encourage the men in our lives to have a good-old, cathartic cry.- Glen Biderman-Pam,
On 24 March, not only was it Chasing the Sun-day, but it also represented what the team is labelling #SACMAD, South African Crying Men’s Awareness Day.
“Be there, with a box of tissues, for a South African man who needs to let it out this Sunday; let’s have a collective cry – stronger teargether," shares Glen.
This #OnlyInSouthAfrica moment is brightening up social media feeds.
