VIDEO: Strong winds in South Africa “reverse” tides

The weather has been shocking around the country!
In the past few days, we have seen wildfire, severe downpours and extreme winds through the Western Coast of South Africa. While we have blooming days in KwaZulu-Natal, it has been nothing compared to our fellow province.

Social media users have been gobsmacked by the extreme conditions that have been faced. Powerful winds have caused waves to break in the opposite direction. Two TikTokers have described this phenomenon as “reversed tides.”

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for gale-force winds and heavy rain in large parts of the Western Cape. Spokesperson, Tokelo Chiloane, says gale-force winds are expected in Cape Town, the Overberg and the Cape Winelands, including floods in some parts of the province, that may lead to structural damage. Chiloane also warns of dangerous conditions for vessels at sea.
We are here with our friends in this part of the country while they face a level 9 weather warning.
