The Vampire Diaries: Top 5 Most Powerful Villains

In every series it is almost innate how you will be drawn to the hero, the saviour, the thinker and the lover. Sometimes, that character is all those things but a villian. How do you still not love them? We hate to love them as much as everyone loves to hate them. 

The mostly human Elena was put again vampires who were far younger like Stefan and Damon and they still came out victorious. The villains were even somewhat redeemed by the end of the series rank among the most powerful of them all when put against the heroes.

You'd find werewolves, witches, hybrids and so much more supernatural beings on Vampire Diaries so you can imagine the immense power that some of them had.

Number 5

The Mikaelson sister was extremely strong and her impulsive nature made her scarier and more of a threat to others around her. She was the one behind Elena's death and eventual turn into a vampire. Rebekah is held  back by the fact that she was actually quite good at heart and became more of an anti-hero over time. 

The Mikaelson siblings were among the first vampires ever created, with power levels that were extremely close and that far outweighed everyone else on the show. So, it was always a struggle to go against that pack. Although, Rebekah was the least strong of the bunch. Quite fierce and beautiful still.

Number 4

Elijah Mikaelson. He was actually quite tender-hearted. Although for his arrival on the show in season 2 he showed how ruthless he could be when he killed Trevor, a centuries-old vampire, with a simple slap that decapitated him. Definitely, one of the show's top best introductions. 

This Mikaelson brother could go all the way to ends of evil if he had to be but he was always known more for his nobility. He was a man of his word and as powerful as he was as a bad guy, he was someone who would rather come to a civil conclusion than be a violent villain. How do you not love that? A bit of balance!

Number 3

Another looker! 

Alaric Saltzman is known to be one of the primary good guys. But remember the time Esther turned him into an Original Vampire? It might not have been for long but the strength and abilities that came with that transition...powerful stuff! 

He could now be on the Mikaelsons' level including the fact that he hated that species. It made him feared by even the toughest and oldest vampires including Klaus. Considering his weapon is the white oak stake and that he can't be killed, vampire Alaric is terrifying.

Number 2

When the Mikaelson clan left, many fans agree that it was hard to find a villian that could live up to them. But maybe at least this one perosn had that same vigour - Kai Parker. 

He debuted in season 6 with some witch abilities and ruthlessness.

Number 1

The show's greatest villain - Klaus Mikaelson. Not only was he sadistic and a clear bad guy but he proved to be the one villian so powerful that no one could defeat.

Klaus was the oldest vampire and this status already had him at the top of the chain as the leading powerful guy. Bu then he was also a werewolf hybrid and even more unstoppable because of this. Who can say they remember a time when Klaus never had a backup plan? No one. 

Sometimes it seemed the only way to avoid his wrath was for the heroes to basically become his allies of his.

That makes it for our Top 5 most powerful villians in the show's series.
