Tropical Cyclone Berguitta leaves Mauritius in devastation

Authorities warned Mauritians to take to safety immediately when a level 3 Tropical Cyclone passed. Keri Miller's uncle, who is a resident in the country, shared pictures of the aftermath that the island is now faced with.
Airports and ports were closed as Tropical Cyclone Berguitta took a nasty turn towards Mauritius, affecting thousands and damaging anything that got in its way.
Here are some important facts that you should know about Tropical Cyclone Berguitta:
- The storm was 200 miles north east of Mauritius when it had already started causing damage to the Island
- It is assumed that Tropical Cyclone Berguitta is the worst to ever hit the region since the 1990s
- Mauritius suffered severe damage on Wednesday as the island was hit by high winds
- La Reunion was another Island that was severely affected along with Mauritius
- The majority of rivers and gullies flooded in La Reunion as around 300mm of rain fell
- Thousands were left without electricity as a result of heavy winds, causing light poles and trees to collapse
- Berguitta is on its way to the middle of the Indian Ocean
- Berguitta is set to miss Madagascar
