The Premier Soccer League season has been decided on the final day on a few occasions.

LISTEN: Eggs Benedict, Sky Tshabalala and Darren Maule debate the PSL title race.
There have been a few times when the winner of the PSL title is unknown until the very last second of the season.
Here are my top five most exhilarating and nerve-racking finales:
5. Season - 1998/99
Mamelodi Sundowns were tied on points with Kaizer Chiefs, but the Brazilians had a superior goal difference. The permutations were that if Sundowns won their match against Cape Town Spurs by a one-goal margin, Chiefs would need to win by a six-goal margin to clinch the title.
Sundowns ended up being crowned the champions after beating Spurs 2-0 and Kaizer Chiefs narrowly missed out after managing only a 5-1 victory over Dynamos.
4. Season - 2004/05
Orlando Pirates had to win by a four-goal margin if Kaizer Chiefs won by a one-goal margin against Bloemfontein Celtic.
Kaizer Chiefs claimed the title after beating Celtic 2-0 and Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw by Bush Bucks in the other game.
3. Season - 2006/07
Pirates and Sundowns were tied on points and they were pitted against each other in the final round of matches. Pirates, who had an inferior goal difference, had to beat Sundowns 6-0 on the final day of the league to walk away with the title. Sundowns won the league after the match ended in a goalless draw.
2. Season - 2011/12
Pirates were already two points clear at the summit of the standings, they just had to win their last match against Golden Arrows to clinch the title, because there was still a possibility of Moroka Swallows mathematically catching up with them. Both teams won their respective matches, but Pirates survived a scare after trailing 2-1 at one point in the match. They came back and won it 4-2 to seal the league title. Elsewhere, Swallows beat Maritzburg United 1-0 but it wasn't enough since they were two points shy.
1. Season - 2010/11
The most dramatic end to an Absa Premiership season! Ajax had to beat Maritzburg United to make it impossible for second-placed Pirates to win the title.
Ajax relinquished a 1-0 lead to trail 2-1 and ended up only salvaging a 2-2 draw. Elsewhere, Pirates relinquished a 1-0 lead against Arrows who made it 1-1 but Isaac Chansa's long range shot in the dying minutes saw Pirates manage a 2-1 win and tying with Ajax on 60 points.
There was a dramatic twist to the table and Pirates won the league on goal difference with virtually the last kick of the season.
