Whetstone Primary School in Phoenix provided the perfect start to the new season of Last Kid Standing with SASKO.
The C-A-T is out the B-A-G!
KZN, the search is on for the new Last Kid Standing with SASKO Spelling Bee champion.
The start of Last Kid Standing with SASKO 2022 kicked off at Whetstone Primary School, the home of 2021's champion, Jemimah Sampson.
We couldn't kick off the new season without speaking to the hall-of-famer, and not only did she tell us about her rise to fame, but she very kindly offered some valuable tips to this year's contestants.
The confident, eloquent, adorable, and charming Jemimah joined Darren, Keri and Sky to chat about life after her victory in May 2021.
It's actually quite flattering; I'm actually quite shocked I won the competition - I'm famous now.- Jemimah Sampson
So, how can you prepare for the big competition?
"Just practice. Be prepared and be determined to read and spell." - Jemimah Sampson
From Monday 25 April until Friday 29 April (excluding Wednesday 27 April), we will be heading to various schools around the city. At each school, we will select three contestants to go up against each other, with each daily contestant winning a spot in the competition.
We kicked off proceedings at Whetstone Primary with Huzaifah Ramjan, Malaika Govender and Keshav Pillay going head-to-head.
After a tough start, Keshav secured the win and will win an entry into the competition.
Congratulations, Keshav!
We also put our contestants to the ultimate sandwich test because, with all these early mornings on the road, we need some foodspiration

for those early morning road trips.Darren and Sky obviously had to give the sandwiches their stamp of approval, so we had a little food tasting competition to keep things interesting.
