A man took to the video sharing app to share his shock
after he discovered the real meaning of the popular emoji – leaving viewers shocked.
Emojis have become a new language. In fact, so much can often be said by simply adding an emoji into a sentence on social media. However, sometimes we give emojis meanings other than what they are intended for (we see you, eggplant emoji!). However, when one man discovered what the teary-eyed emoji really means, he was left stunned.
Louis Levanti shares that he came across a tweet from Zach Silberberg which went viral earlier this year after he revealed the strange connection the popular emoji has with Oliver Twist.

"Finding out that the keyboard shortcut for [the sad emoji] is 'please sir' ruined my day,” the tweet read. Louis reacted to this news on a new video he shared on TikTok where he put the little-known iPhone shortcut to the test.
"I did not need to wake up to this tweet saying that is what you type to get that emoji!!” Louis said in the clip. "It f***ing can't be. Who the f*** at Apple is responsible for this?"

The video quickly started getting a response from users, with one person saying: "Someone at Apple is about to get CANCELLED.” Another person, however, suggested that it may have something to do with the popular Oliver Twist story.
"Pretty sure it's a reference to Oliver Twist when he holds up his bowl and asks for more food, 'please sir may I have some more'... FOOD," the user commented. However, Louis isn't convinced. "I don't think emoji was being that clever, probably just a coincidence," he said.

This incident is the latest in a new trend which highlights the real meanings behind some of our favourite emojis. Emoji users were recently shocked to learn that the jazz hands emoji is, in fact, used to represent a hug.
The emoji of either a man or a woman holding their hands around their head is meant to indicate that you are okay. The arms are raised to make a circle for the 'O' in OK. Most people use this emoji to indicate some sort of dancing.
Meanwhile, the gust of wind doesn’t mean a fart. In fact, it is meant as a dash and used when someone does or moves away from something quickly.
