Everyone knows about South Africa's issues, including the dreaded loadshedding.
Sadly, many people are looking to greener pastures as a result.
This reality raises an interesting question: If you could buy citizenship for another country, which would you choose?
According to Henley and Partners, there are 11 countries that a person can simply buy citizenship from.

As South Africans, we’re often looking for ways to expand our horizons and explore the world beyond our borders.
One of the most popular options for doing this is to buy citizenship in another country.
While this may be a controversial decision for some, it’s becoming increasingly popular for those looking for new opportunities abroad.

Here’s a look at three of the countries that offer citizenship opportunities for South Africans... but it will cost you a pretty penny:
Austria, Europe
- Minimum capital: Substantial contribution to the Austrian economy
- Processing time: 24-36 months
- Main benefit: The ability to become an EU citizen with one of the strongest passports in the world.
Türkiye, Europe
- Investment: USD 400,000 (R7,300,000)
- Processing time: About 120 days
- Main benefit: You can have free movement to Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
Jordan, Middle East
- Investment: USD 750,000 (R13,700,000)
- Processing time: Three months
- Main benefit: The right to work, live, and study in Jordan.
