The next summit is Mount Everest for Saray Khumalo
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
Saray Khumalo is about to become the first black African woman to climb and summit Mount Everest. We had the honour to chat with this remarkable woman.
Take a listen to our interview with Saray Khumalo:
Saray is a social entrepreneur, a mother of two boys, and also an executive in a distinguished financial institution in South Africa. She has, over time, demonstrated her commitment to making a difference in her environment through mountaineering.
Saray's journey to Mount Everest has not been an easy one as she's had to postpone the trip for the past two years due to environmental complications. In 2014 she reached Everest base camp.
The mountain closed after an avalanche that claimed 16 sherpas' lives, and in 2015 she reached Everest Camp 2, but the expedition was abandoned after an earthquake in Nepal.
This time nothing stands in her way!
