Updated | By Shanice Pillay
Meet Claire Janisch, the Director of BiomimicrySA who is making significant strides in her career by creating eco-friendly ways for us to live in a sustainable environment.
Listen to the audio or read Claire Janish's story below:
As the founding Director of BiomimicrySA, Claire has an MSc Chem-Engineering in Industrial Ecology and is passionate about 'Mother Nature'.
Working in a field dominated by men, she uses every day as an apprentice to learn from Mother Nature and uses the results in the best way possible - to create sustainable ways in which to better not only our lives, but Mother Nature as well.
Biomimicry is the practice of learning from and emulating nature's genius to create products, processes, and systems that are sustainable and resilient - even regenerative. Claire has learnt to embrace her title as a female engineer and uses the 'softness' of a woman into processes of engineering instead of it being destructive and masculine.
She believes that one shouldn't follow the norm. Rather ask yourself 'What norm would you like?' and bring that into the world.
