Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
The world-famous rock band has lost their lead singer to an unexpected death.
Dolores O’Riordan, whose band The Cranberries sold over 40-million records worldwide, passed away in London on Monday, where she was attending a recording session, according to her publicist.
The cause of her death has not yet been revealed, with questions being asked over how she died.
The Cranberries band members Noel, Mike, and Fergal released a public statement on Facebook expressing their devastation:
The band's second album, 'No Need To Argue', was released in 1994 and became a global smash, containing popular singles 'Zombie', 'I Can't Be With You', and 'Ode To My Family'.
It is reported that O'Riordan endured a turbulent past where she dealt with anorexia, bipolar disorder, and her emotions after being sexually abused at the age of eight.
Whilst the cause of the singer's death is unclear, she will always be known and loved as the face and heartbeat of The Cranberries. Celebrities and public figures from around the world took to social media with their messages of love for the band and O'Riordan's family, and shared their memories of her:
I once met Delores O’Riordan when I was 15. She was kind and lovely, I got her autograph on my train ticket and it made my day. She had the most amazing voice and presence. So sorry to hear that she’s passed away today x

Shocked and heartbroken over Dolores O’Riordan’s death. The Cranberries were pinnacle in showing me that it was possible to fully embrace masculine and feminine energy in one cohesive sound. She was a true pioneer 💔

Can't believe Dolores O'Riordan has died. I'm in shock. Iconic vocalist and a lovely woman too. Had the honour of signing with her for pope john paul in the Vatican many years ago.

Darren Maule also shared his thoughts on this tragic news: "I remember how the fleeting moments with my college crush would 'Linger' - 'You know I'm such a fool for you, you've got me wrapped around your finger, do you have to let it linger?' I remember thinking, 'This is the one and wondering why every waking and dreaming moment was spent thinking of her, oh my life is changing everyday, in every possible way, and oh my dreams. It's never quite as it seems.' From 'Zombie' and its social commentary to lost love .When you're gone Dolores O'Riordon was there and now she is no more. A gaping void left behind. Thank you for being there and I will miss you terribly," Darren said.
