A shot was fired through the bedroom window of a key witness in the trial of former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede. The witness was set to testify in the racketeering, fraud, corruption, and money laundering case on Monday.

Four people died on Tuesday in a taxi rank shooting in Port Shepstone. Four others sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital. The motive for the shooting is still unknown.
