South Africa could be set for new driving rules for motorists

Things could be about to change for motorists...
The Department of Transportation will work with the government to bring back some of the rules they had on the road during lockdown, making them permanent.

According to Business Tech, a new report on South Africa’s COVID-19 lockdown shows serious connections between alcohol use and the number of accidents on the roads.
The department plans to amend the National Road Traffic Act to reduce the alcohol level limit for drivers to zero. It also wants to introduce severe punishments for drunk driving.

One of the major issues with this potential change is that drivers can show higher blood alcohol levels after using some medications or eating certain foods.
It is not clear when a decision will be made in this regard.
