Sky: "Am I wrong for buying the same birthday gift for all of my son’s friends?”

Sky: "Am I wrong for buying the same birthday gift for all of my son’s friends?”

Sky Tshabalala is currently facing another birthday dilemma...

If it's nice, buy it twice, right?

Recently, Sky has been met with an influx of birthday invitations from his kid's friends. This means that he has to fork out some big bucks for a special B-Day prezzie. It's quite tough to buy the perfect gift for young ones, so when you find a goodie, you can't help but stick to it.

At least that's what Sky's thought process is.

Apparently not all East Coasters feel the same way. These mixed reactions have sparked controversy on our Facebook page.

VOTE: Is it okay to skip a baby’s birthday?

Here's what our friends of Facebook have to say:

  • "I think with toddlers you can, especially if it's a nice educational toy that every child will benefit from."
  • "Thats wrong, as much as it's the thought that counts. Every kid is different and will like different things. I generally ask the parent of the child about stuff they may like and work around that to get a gift."
  • "If it's an educational gift that stimulates their minds then I don't see why not. They probably didn't get that from others and it's not you that needs to decide according to their preferences. I'm sure their parents would already be getting them what they prefer."

On the plus side, Sky always has a gift for the kids and he doesn't have to stand in queues minutes before the cake is cut.

In the grand scheme of things, this might not be that deep, but as long as cake, family, and friends are involved, it’s a winner.
