Shocking Grade 1 back-to-school stationery list goes viral
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Wowza! That's quite a price tag...
It’s that time of year again. As the school bells begin to ring, children all around South Africa are filled with mixed emotions for the inevitable back-to-school rush.
By a similar token, the hole parents have burning in their pockets creates further stress and turmoil for them. Any financial relief one could expect after the December holidays is out the window. Luckily, parents will feel some relief as kids go back to hitting the books.
One first-grader’s stationery list has been making the rounds on social media. Check out the viral video here:

As shared in the TikTok above, not only is the list two pages long, but the total amount for all the stationery comes to a total of nearly R2,800! Shock, horror, and disbelief...
New parents are bound to get the shock of a lifetime with that price tag on stationery.

Mrsb255official also took to the comments section to remind users that this total does not even include the school uniform for the year.
"The worst part is that they are going to end up losing all of it," reckons one user.
In these uncertain times of Back-to-Schooling, all we can say to parents is may the odds be ever in your favour.
