Shark in heart-shaped school of fish wins top prize at Drone Awards
Photographer Jim Picôt captured an amazing picture on his drone that left thousands around the world in awe.
A picture of a hungry shark in a heart-shaped school of salmon won top honours at the 2020 Drone Photo Awards, which is part of the 6th edition of the Siena Awards Festival.
The image was taken by Australian photographer Jim Picôt. The aerial landscape photographer was named the overall winner.
His image, which is called 'Love Heart of Nature', was captured in August 2019.
"In winter, a shark is inside a salmon school when, chasing the baitfish, the shape became a heart shape," a description of the picture reads.
Jim revealed on Instagram that "the shark with a heart" was taken at Australia's Avoca Beach.
Not only does he get to take home the coveted Pangea Prize Crystal award, but he also gets €500 (around R10,000) worth of photography equipment.
"Thank you so much Siena Awards for this honour. I'm still pinching myself. So surreal. A massive thanks to Luca, and all the team at the awards, and of course the judges, and everyone associated with these amazing awards," Jim said after his image was announced as the overall winner.

Photographers from 126 countries entered several categories, including Urban Architecture, Sports, Nature, and People.
"The winning photographs will be awarded in Siena at the 'Teatro dei Rinnovati' theatre, in October, during Siena Awards Festival," a statement read.
The top 45 pictures will be on display at an exhibition called, "Above Us Only Sky', in Siena.
Visitors will be able to view the photographs from October 24 to 29 November at the Accademia dei Fisiocritici - Italy's oldest science museum.
"The exhibition represents the only group exhibition held in Italy on aerial photography, with images that capture the beauty of the world seen from the skies and allow imagination to tell a story."
