Serena hinted that she could play on home soil at the US Open, which begins on 29 August.
I have never liked the word retirement. I've been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. Ever since losing her professional debut back in September 1995, Serena has become the most dominant force in women's tennis in the last 30 years.
