School principals have been cautioned about changes happening at homeschool level

South African schools will soon make changes with regards to homeschooling pupils.
Principals in SA have been warned that children returning to a traditional school setup after being homeschooled are likely to have to repeat a year.

The news comes from Business Tech after the Rapport spoke to some of the school principals who had an influx of leaners joining the school after homeschooling.
This is the result of children ultimately repeating a year of schooling, with the principals ensuring that they may only graduate from high school at the age of 20.
Virtual schools have gained popularity due to the pandemic, according to an article by City Press.
There has been a large group of complaints about the quality of education, though.

According to Business Tech, the Department of Basic Education notes that virtual or online schools are seeing high drop-out rates.
All this while in a traditional school setup, the principals have reported an increase of children wanting to return to classrooms.
As you know, there are many challenges learners and educators would face.
On top of academic challenges, there are schools that will be hoping that returning children don't face challenges like ‘hidden curriculum’ of socialisation and interacting with peers.

It is said that principals have noted that online and virtual schools are better suited to supportive or complementary roles in education.
